Half way through InkTober 2014 + Facebook page

Yesterday was day 16 of InkTober, and I am officially halfway through! If you'd like to learn more about what InkTober is, please check out the creator of InkTober mrjakeparker.com/inktober.

Another thing I have forgotten to blog about, is the fact that I now have created a Facebook page over at facebook.com/artbyannika83. There I have been sharing the scanned InkTober drawings every day, and it will be a place where I will be posting news and updates more regularly. But the first place where I post images will often be on Instagram, so make sure that you follow me there if you'd like to see things first.

I have also been making and posting new videos on my Youtube channel almost every week now, and I really enjoy the whole process of making videos. I try my best at doing commentaries for each video, mainly because I enjoy watching art videos where the artist talks the most, and hope other people do so as well. Finding things to talk about is hard though, so if you have any suggestions on topics or have questions please let me know.

That is enough information, lets look at the pictures!

Painting a horned monster

For this weeks video my plan was to draw Link from the Legend of Zelda games, but I just couldn't get him to look any good. Or as my boyfriend pointed out, Link looked extra derpy. ;)

The sketch page from 2014-08-27.

So instead I decided to paint one of the sketches from last weeks video. I spent around one hour on it so it truly is a speed painting with all it's flaws. But he turned out quite cute so I'm happy with it. ^^

It was painted in Manga Studio 5.0, with some final touches made in Adobe Photoshop CC 2014.
I also used brushes I bought from Frenden. The tablet I use is a Bosto 22HD.

And here is the video!

New postcards

Earlier this yeas I made some new postcard designs.
I ended up with ten different cards designs but they all have one thing in common. The background for them all is a scanned backside of a old vintage photograph from my aunts collection.

The cards are then printed out with a inkjet printer on 170 gram A3 paper and I then cut out each card and finally folded them. The very last step is adding some extra touches by hand to every cards using color pencils, fine-liners and gel pens.

It's alive!

My Youtube channel lives!
I finally mustered the courage to make a new video, and not only that, you can hear my voice too!
The commentary isn't great though, but I had to force myself to stop recording at some point, because otherwise I would never have uploaded it. So it will have to do this time.

I want to make more videos, as I really liked the whole process involved. Next time hopefully the art can be a bit better, and I will be less nervous doing the voice-over commentary.

Scarecrow and birds

Made in Manga Studio 5 and Photoshop CC.
Here is another digital painting! I must say I really enjoyed making this one. My original plan was just to make a speedpaint to warm up but I ended up spending a few hours on it over the course of two days.

This one was also made in Manga Studio 5 using my Bosto Kingtee 22HD. Some final touches (color-correction and levels) was made in Photoshop CC. I used a brush set I bought from Frenden that I really like.

I did take some screen-shots of my progress as can be seen below!

Digital sketch

Well, I had planned to write another type of post next, but I have been sick since the weekend so I haven't had the energy. So instead I thought I would share this girl I made in September 2013 in Photoshop CC.

I really want to get more into digital painting, and I bought myself a new tablet last year (planning to write a review sometime) so I shouldn't have an excuse anymore. Still I find it very hard to actually finish projects. Oh well, I guess I will have to try a little harder.

Some of the handpainted pouches from 2013

Tabby Cat, SOLD.
Here are some photos of the pouches/pencil cases I made last year. They are all drawn with fabric pens on unbleached cotton. They also have some touches with fabric paints. I also added some details with a white fabric pen.
To spice things up, I bought some colored zippers last year to add some touch to them.

The size for the pouches/cases is around 19cm x 8,5cm (about 7.5" x 3.3"). And will hold a couple of larger marker pens in them, but of course they will hold any thing you'd like. I know a lady who bought a pouch to keep her crochet needles in.

Reaching For The Blue Heartflowers, SOLD.

Birds In The Sky, SOLD.

Finding A Bird Creature In The Woods, SOLD.

Standing Among The Pink Heartflowers , SOLD.

Under The Cherry Blossom, SOLD.
White Squirrel Monster, SOLD.

The year of the ACEOs

For me, 2013 turned out to be the year when I really got into making ACEOs! I especially fell in love with making them with watercolor pencils and a water brush.
Often I just go right in with the watercolor pencils without sketching beforehand, sometimes with an idea in mind, but a good many of the one I made so far I have just been winging it.

In total I have made 138 finished ACEOs in 2013, and a couple more that didn't make the cut.
So even if I was a very bad blogger last year, I was rather productive.

You will find some of these ACEOs in my Etsy store, and right now I offering a discount that you can learn more about here.

ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals and can be created in any material and technique as long as it is in the size 2,5 x 3,5 inches (6,3 cm x 8,8 cm). You can find out more about it here.

Four years on Etsy!

Four years ago today I started my very own shop on Etsy. And to celebrate I wanted to offer a 20% off coupon code! It's been so much fun and I want to thank all my customers for supporting me over the years despite lack of content during some periods. It means a lot to me and I am hoping to add new and more products soon.

Coupon Code: ETSY4YEARS
(This code expires feb 21, 2014)

Please note that this code only works for my shop, so redeem it at angelgnome.etsy.com.
You can learn more about how to use Etsy coupons here.

I also want to remind that I do post more regularly on Instagram as anixen (something new almost daily or at least once a week). I hope to bring the blog back to life but until then Instagram and Etsy is the place to see my newest works!
